To my RIDE OR DIE TRIBE – you know who you are – thanks for keeping the positivity alive!
Surrounding yourself with like-minded human beings can be one of the most important factors in any experience you may have, on or off the mountain. It wasn’t until I was in my mid 20’s that I realized how important it is to surround yourself with those that love and support you and have similar values and goals. Growing up, you are in a bubble – as the years pass, the bubble gets bigger and bigger until one day it bursts. Looking back now, I am more in tune with my emotions and feelings than I have ever been before. The relationships I had in High School were a joke, and the friendships in college were for the most part superficial. The older I got, the deeper and special my relationships became.
“Treat others how you want to be treated”
It’s something so simple yet it’s hard to find the proper actions to initiate the gesture that you are a nice person. One of the reasons I am so drawn to the mountain culture is that fact that most people have their shit together and are just nice people. Even those who are still figuring things out, they still smile and are genuinely happy. Outside of my immediate circle of friends in the city, I have yet to find a place that has as many happy people such as in Tahoe, CA or Breckenridge, CO.
Why is this? Do the mountains make people happier by nature (literally, ha)?? Or do the mountains draw in a certain mentality of people?? I could go down a rabbit hole thinking about it but truth be told, I think it’s a beautiful crossover of both. I find myself more at ease and less stressed when I am breathing that fresh alpine air. When I am happier to other people, they in turn are happier towards me.
WAIT WHAT??
Uhm HELLO – like what? Like that’s it? All I had to do was crack a smile first or say something positive to get someone to respond the same way? We need to be doing this all the time people. What an easy way to put some light back into this world. And for the days you aren’t feeling so hot, let’s hope the people who you interact with will spark that positivity for you!
The snowboarding community has been one of those niches that I feel truly supported and not judged based on my looks or gender, or even skill level necessarily – it’s all about that vibe. As long as you are having fun and enjoying life while on the mountain, that’s all that matters. There a couple rad companies out there too that are pushing for the love of the sport. Mountain Vibez is one of my favorite companies that are doing an awesome job of encouraging the feeling of snowboarding, rather than just the talent and fashion. [Check them out on Instagram and follow them for your daily dose of happiness!]
Part of the motivation behind this blog is to spread the joy of snowboarding but it’s also about spreading the knowledge of where to feel the positive vibez that come with it as well. I want to let people know about where to stay and activities to do that are with businesses who contribute to these sustainable thought processes who support people to truly gain some incredible experiences.
What I am getting at is simple – your vibe attracts your tribe. So be good to one another, stay humble, and do what you need to do to make yourself happy.
Please reach out and contact me if you, or anyone you know
is doing good in a place that is in the mountains! I would love to stop by and say hello and engage in a powerful conversation about the mountain mentality and the GOOD that is going on in the world.
Sending lots of pow to the face! Enjoy the ride my Friends.
